Composite wood is becoming a popular material choice for garden renovation projects. Here we look at some of the key qualities that make it the material of choice in comparison to general timber wood.

Durability

Composite wood is a uniquely developed material. It is constructed from a combination of sustainable sourced bamboo fibres, synthetic polymers and a PVC binding agent to hold it all together. This combination of organic wood fibre and polymer possesses a higher core strength than general timber due to the density of the molecules.

The timber is also protected by an outer coat of resin. This resin is called a ‘cap’ and it provides further durability features.

The resin ensures that the structural integrity of the timber is maintained by protecting the panels from UV light and water rot. UV rays from the sun gradually wear timber down over time, causing the molecules to deteriorate and eventually splinter. The resin protects against this by providing an outer layer of defence.

Similarly, natural timber needs to be kept free of excess water to fight against the build up of rot-inducing mould. The resin is water-resistant HDPE.

The durability of composite wood is rounded off by the scratch resistant quality that it possesses. The outer cap is designed to absorb the wear and tear of high-heels, chair scraping and so on as well as fading from sunlight.

These qualities mean that at Composite Wood we are confident to offer a 25 year guarantee on all of our products, from decking to garden room structures.

Natural look and feel

Composite wood as a material has moved on a long way from the initial wave of products that hit the market around fifteen years ago. Back then there was a conception that the material resembled plastic more than it did wood, leading many to draw comparisons with children’s playmobil and the like.

We’re proud to say that things have changed a lot since then. Here at Composite Wood we develop products that resemble the authentic, natural aesthetics of timber as much as possible. We do so without jeopardising the durability mentioned above.

Wood grain composite products, for example, provide a natural-looking effect by combining recycled wood polymer material  with HDPE and additives at a rate of 60/30/10. The resulting material is not only incredibly durable and easy to maintain, but you wouldn’t know it wasn’t 100% real wood.

Quick to install

Our decking and fencing panels are designed with user-friendliness in mind, meaning any able bodied person should be able to install their purchase without assistance.

Each panel and balustrade is fitted with a straightforward, concealed joining system and with a lead time of just 48 hours you can count on us to have your project on the go without the need for waiting around.

Safety considered

Remember that resin we talked about earlier in the article? Well the protective defence it provides ensures that the sun’s UV rays do not damage the timber to the point that it cracks and splinters. Ensuring our decking and fencing remains splinter-free is of paramount importance to us, so you can rest assured that socks, shoes or slippers are not mandatory!

As well as protecting against water damage, the protective cap is also anti-slip. This makes it perfectly safe to set up children’s pools on the decking, you can rest safely in the knowledge that there is no slipping hazard once they get out.

Garden rooms can fit a wide range of purposes and serve as blank canvases to add new functionalities to any home.

If you’re lucky enough to have recently installed some additional outdoor living space in the form of a composite wood garden room, then you’ll have probably already put plans in place to use your new found living space.

If, by chance, you are still looking for inspiration – look no further. Here we have put together eight of the best garden room ideas we’ve seen over the years installing them into homes across the country.

Garden room office

Garden offices are perhaps the most popular use for a garden room as they provide a work-space that makes the absolute most of natural light. Work-from-home productivity can greatly improve in a setting as light and remote as this.

Composite Wood garden rooms can be ordered complete with lighting, heating and electrics so you can use it any time of day, any time of year.

Garden playroom

Keeping all of the children’s toys in one room is a pipedream for the majority of us, but with a garden room you have the potential to build an outdoor area which does exactly that.

Not only does it confine all of the mess to one manageable space, but it also provides a super safe and monitorable area for your children to play. Garden playrooms also provide suitable benefits for childminders and nurseries.

A composite wood garden rooms is fully insulated so your children can use it all year round.

Guest room or apartment

Regularly have family over to visit? Why not make sofa-beds or hotel stopovers a thing of the past by deciding on a garden room that doubles as a guest bedroom or apartment?

Our self-contained garden rooms can be customised to be a home, away from the home. Your garden room layout can come complete with a kitchen or bathroom, if you desired.

Garden gym

Perhaps you don’t have the time or money to justify a gym membership. Having your own personal, private setup can help you to keep fit without the pressure of having to justify a monthly fee.

Hobby room

There are a number of hobbies that could benefit from a personal space. Over the years we have seen composite wood garden rooms utilised as snooker rooms, home cinemas, music studios and libraries to name but a few!

Home bar or ‘man cave’

You could be lucky enough to use your garden room as a personal retreat. The concept of a man cave is well known but it usually pertains to basements – with a garden room you can setup that reclusive area fit with electrics for a TV, mini fridge and so on.

Our garden rooms can also be paired with composite decking. With this option the room will open out, adding a new function to the investment that you have made.

All of our garden rooms are quoted to order, with all design, transport and assembly processes covered as part of the price.

The summer months are fast approaching and it’s now time to start thinking about getting your garden space back in working order for the good times ahead.

We have been fitting our products into gardens for years now, and we have come to realise that no matter the size of your garden, there will always be something you can do to maximise the space that you have.

With that in mind, we have put together a helpful guide for you to do just that. Read on for some guidance on how to work with what you’ve got, no matter what season it is.

1. Make sure your garden fits the purpose

Before you plan anything out, really have a think about what purpose your garden should provide for you and your family.

Is it a place for relaxation with a book and a glass of wine? Are you looking to clear as much space as possible for the kids to play in the comfort of their own garden? How about if you were looking to invite a group of friends round over the summer?

All of these things should be considered as they will determine what is possible.

2. Make the most of natural sunlight

Before you add any constructions to your garden, or put up any tall fences instead of hedging, you should really think about where the sunlight hits your garden at different points of the day.

We all know that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, so use that to think about maximising the amount of sunlight your garden gets throughout the day. The last thing you want is a garden full of shade spots and not enough room to sunbathe.

3. Why not plant a tree?

Perhaps you wanted to go for a garden that makes a difference. Planting a tree has plenty of benefits.

1. Trees contribute to the improvement of air quality by converting carbon dioxide into oxygen. They also store carbon, which aids the planet in the fight against greenhouse gas emissions. They also clean the air by trapping pollen, dust and pollutants.

2. Trees increase property value over time. They are a sought after feature of a back garden, for sure.

3. Trees provide a habitat for different types of wildlife including insects, birds and squirrels. Which leads us on to our next point.

This is a great activity to do with the kids and you will enjoy the sense of fulfilment watching it grow over the years. You can follow the RHS’ guide to planting a tree if this is something you are considering.

4. Attract wildlife to your garden

You may wish to build a wildlife friendly garden for your children to enjoy, with a little piece of nature right on their back door step. It’s really easy to do. Here are some ideas if you’re looking to increase the presence of wildlife in your garden:

1. This may not be the best bet if you’re looking to live out in the garden over the summer, but you can create a mighty fine habitat by simply letting the grass go.

2. Add a bird box feeding station, or watering shelter to your garden. Make sure it is placed in a high, sheltered position that is inaccessible to cats. Attract birds in the spring and summer by providing protein-rich foods, while seeds are the best bet in the winter months.

3. Flowers will help add vibrance and colour to your garden this summer, but they will also provide a source of pollen and an attraction for butterflies.

4. Construct a small pond and create an entire ecosystem in your garden, but avoid locating it in an area that is in complete sunlight or shade.

5. Introduce some decking to your garden

While there’s a whole list of things you can do to a garden to get it ready for any given summer, there are also some purchases that can be made with the rest of your life in mind.

If you’ve settled down into a family home and are looking to make that next big improvement to the garden just in time for summer, why not consider installing some decking.

Decking provides a versatile space for the family to use, and the beauty of it is that it is a multipurpose area. Be it a family party, children’s play time or a relaxing evening as the sun sets, decking can truly transform a garden and help you to make the most of the weather.

With Composite Wood Company you won’t need to worry about protecting your investment with staining and repainting, learn more about our decking panels here.

6. Use your walls

If you don’t have much in the way of horizontal space in your garden, but you do have some vertical space in the form of walls and fences, why not plant some vines? Doing so can cover up the brick grey colour and improve the aesthetic of your garden.

Hanging baskets are another way to utlise your wall space. You only need to screw a hook into the wall and you will be free to decorate your garden with vibrant flowers without building a flower bed in what little space you have left.

7. Replace your lawn with artificial grass

Lawns in small gardens can be more hassle than they’re worth, and you may wish to replace what you have with artificial turf to save on maintenance time and money.

In just an hour or two the small patch of grass can be swapped for a  super-low maintenance alternative to a traditional lawn. Gone is the need to pump money into fertilisers and weed killers. You won’t need to cut the grass and trim around the edges.

Instead you will have an authentic, natural looking lawn designed with anti-slip in mind. The strands of grass are tangle-free and are fully permeable to prevent the build-up of water.

Learn more about artificial grass here.

8. Go for plants that are in bloom all year round

If you really want to make the most out of your garden beyond the summer months, you can invest now for the future by choosing to plant vegetation that is in bloom all year round.

Evergreen shrubs will take up a permanent residence in the garden. This article lists some great ideas and has helpful pictures of what each plant looks like.

9. Consider a garden room

Garden rooms are a great way to add a different dimension to the family home by making the most out of any extra garden space you are blessed with.

These prefabricated structures are fully insulated and have full electrical circuits, providing additional outdoor living space all year round. When you talk about maximising the space given to you, garden rooms are a fully functional place to work, play or relax away from the four walls of the house.

Garden rooms can be made from a range of materials and timbers but here at Composite Wood we pride ourselves on a product constructed from sustainable bamboo fibres, combined with polymers and a PVC binding agent. Read more about what makes composite wood special here.

As well as adding a new dimension to your garden, these structures also add value to your home.

As Anthony Crolla prepares to face Vasyl Lomachenko for the WBA (Super), WBO and The Ring lightweight titles on April 12th, we are excited to announce our sponsorship of the Mancunian boxing great.

Composite Wood Company have proudly supported Team Crolla over the last couple of years with recent fights giving us some memorable experiences.

Our relationship will take another step forward when the Composite Wood Company logo takes up residence on Saturday’s ring and entrance gear.

This is a landmark moment for us with the fight airing live from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on Sky Sports Main Event and ESPN+.

Vasyl Lomachenko has a fierce reputation as one of the most formidable fighters on the planet and is widely regarded as the pound-for-pound greatest in the sport today.

Be that as it may, Crolla is intensely focused on defying the odds to upset the unified lightweight world champion. It’s an underdog story we’re right behind.

Speaking in a recent interview with BNTV, he said:

“He’s an unbelievable fighter, but every man has weaknesses and no one is invincible. He is that good, but [other fighters] have recently had [more] success so I can watch and study clips of that to try and emulate it in my own way.”

Despite having only 13 contests as a professional, the two-time Olympic gold medallist Lomachenko has won world titles across three weight classes. He prized the WBA Lightweight title, along with The Ring lightweight titles, from Jorge Linares who had previously beaten Crolla in 2016 and 2017.

Let’s not forget that Crolla has reached the pinnacle of the world stage before, holding the WBA Lightweight title between 2015 and 2016 after a Manchester Arena win over Darleys Pérez. We know that Anthony will be fully intent on creating a massive moment in boxing history and we’re backing him all the way.

“It’s going to take a career-best performance or punch, I’m a huge underdog. But I’m not going over there for the experience, I’m going over there to shock the world.”

We recently fitted one of our prefabricated garden rooms at Anthony’s home. Despite the weather, Lee and the team only needed a day and a half to get the structure up and watertight.

Despite their rise in popularity of garden rooms, we have noticed that there isn’t a resource to answer some of the more frequent questions. Hopefully the below can be of use to anyone who is considering making an addition to their garden space.

What are garden rooms?

Garden rooms are standalone buildings designed to provide additional outdoor living space. We find that the best designs are the ones that are optimised to be useful all year round. While the majority of projects are designed as one singular room, some may include multiple rooms and functions.

What are garden rooms made from?

They can be constructed from a variety of different materials to give alternative looks and feels, but here at Composite Wood Company we use… well, composite wood and glass. Our composite wood is a unique material made from sustainable bamboo fibres, combined with polymers and a PVC binding agent. The end result is a material that possesses lifeproof durability without sacrificing the beautiful aesthetic of natural timber.

You can read more about the benefits of composite wood in our blog post: 9 Features That Make Composite Wood Products Superior

What can you use garden rooms for?

Garden rooms can fit multiple purposes. Some of our favourite projects with customers have seen rooms built for home office spaces, personal gyms, children’s play-rooms and even a guest bedroom.

Composite wood retains up to three times more thermal energy than general timber, meaning whatever you choose to do with your new living space, you will be able to make the most over the colder months too.

Which garden room should I go for?

If you are looking for a garden room that can be transformed depending on what you want to do with it, then modular garden rooms are the one for you. There are a range of sizes and colours available.

If you’re one of the 4,000,000 people in the UK who work from home, then a garden office would obviously make more sense for you.

Garden buildings are the one to consider for those who desire something more spacious, with alternating rooms giving you the opportunity to make more out of your new space.

Can garden rooms be attached to a house?

Generally, we install garden rooms as standalone buildings external from the house.

They appeal to so many people because of their remoteness, the small piece of home-just-away from home. If they were attached to a house they would lose their impact. You should consider a conservatory or extension if this is what you’re after.

Will garden rooms add value to a home?

Garden rooms have the flexibility to be whatever you want them to be. The potential of this added space doesn’t go unnoticed in the valuation of a home.

If you don’t want to let go of your garden room, you’re in luck. Composite Wood garden rooms are very easily assembled and that means they could, logistically, also be packed up and transported to your new home if you wish.

Do garden rooms fall under any rules and regulations?

The vast majority of projects are within the rights of permitted development, so it’s highly unlikely that planning permission will be requested for what you want to do. Your local council with have more information about height and length restrictions, on request.

How much do garden rooms cost?

Garden rooms are quoted to order, with all design, transport and assembly processes covered as part of the price.

Composite Wood Company specialises in long-lasting, durable home improvement products. Our unique composite wood products are specifically created to emulate the natural look and feel of real wood but with superior durability, built to last for years to come.

The beauty of composite wood is its ability to retain its original high quality standards no matter what the weather or day-to-day family life throws at it, all without the need for regular maintenance as with traditional timber.

From decking and fencing to garden rooms and artificial grass, Composite Wood Company offers a complete home improvement solution for the family home. Find out more about our range of products below.

1. Composite Decking

There are plenty of ways to enhance both the look and the feel of any garden space, and one popular solution is to install some decking. Be it part of a patio garden entrance, or at the entirely opposite end of the lawn, decking can provide the versatile space you may have been missing.

One thing that puts people off is the worry of maintaining such a big investment. On top of the price for the decking itself, the bills quickly begin to add up when you factor in re-staining the wood and repairing any broken boards. That’s where we make a difference.

We discussed the beneficial features of composite wood in our last blog post, and there are two in particular that make the material perfect for decking projects: durability and safety.

General timber begins to look a little worse for wear over time. No matter the strength of the wood it has been made from, it will always be susceptible to UV light from the sun and this the most common cause of splintering. Molecules gradually break down as UV radiation dries the wood out, destroying cell structure. Composite materials do not have this issue due to the protective outer coat of resin.

This resin, referred to as a ‘cap’, also provides water-resistant qualities that give the decking an unrivalled lifespan. The robustness of composite wood ensures that no splinters can be found. Walking barefoot on the decking is no problem, especially when you consider that the coating is anti-slip.

2. Composite Fencing

Plenty of folks opt for fencing over hedges because they are low maintenance, more secure and can complement additional installations like decking and garden rooms. They establish an aesthetically pleasing boundary, giving you and your family the privacy you need to enjoy your garden space properly.

As we see with decking, people are often concerned that their investment will begin to deteriorate over time… but our composite fencing panels are made from the exact same material as our decking. The end result is an extremely low maintenance garden fence with no need for painting, staining or sealing the material.

Once it has been fitted into your garden by your local Composite Wood installer, you will be able to enjoy natural looking fencing that compliments your garden effortlessly. All you need to do is choose the colourway you prefer, and with seven options available (including four with a natural wood grain look) you can rest assured that there is something for everyone.

Learn more about composite fencing here

3. Garden Rooms

Garden rooms are an interesting yet practical method of extending a home into the garden, especially for those who are blessed with more garden space than they might need. Fully insulated and electrically wired, they are highly functional environments for family members to work, play or relax outside of the home.

The popularity of garden rooms has risen to new heights over the last decade or so, as homeowners begin to recognise them as a cost effective, alternative method of extending the home. In comparison to loft or conversion renovations you can opt for a room that benefits from natural light.

They can be enjoyed at all times of the year, too. Composite Wood garden rooms have up to three times more wall insulation than their timber counterparts, for example, and they are of course weatherproof for year-round protection from the elements. With over 4 million people in the United Kingdom now opting to work from home, a garden room could be the perfect year-round environment to do so.

4. Caravan Decking and Fencing

Everyone needs a break from day-to-day life every now and then, and for many of us, escaping to our caravan homes for a long weekend or extended stay is the perfect getaway. There’s nothing quite like setting up the barbecue on your decking on a hot summers day and enjoying all the peace and quiet that the caravan park has to offer.

However, due to the infrequency of visits, static caravans can easily become a bit neglected and your decking & fencing can start to look a little worn and tired over time. That’s why many caravan owners are now making the switch to composite wood decking & fencing products – they are low maintenance, highly durable and stylish all in one.

The last thing anyone wants to do while on holiday is to start staining, painting or sealing the wood work – but there’s none of that hassle with composite wood. The long-lasting and hard-wearing qualities of composite wood caravan decking and fencing mean that they are simply installed and enjoyed for years to come, with the ability to withstand whatever you throw at it.

Composite wood caravan decking is mould and algae resistant meaning there’s no chance of developing slippery or discoloured patches, and our unique fencing offers a more secure solution to traditional timber. It’s the perfect choice for marina’s, parks with pool areas or those near the seaside.

Learn more about caravan decking and fencing here

5. Balustrade Fencing

Balustrade fencing is a stylish method of finishing off outdoor installations such as decking or stairs. Placing a fence around an area of decking or around a small staircase might not sound like an attractive idea, but balustrade fencing is specially designed to be a non-intrusive, great looking edging option.

It’s a lovely looking way of bordering areas of your garden, especially when made from composite wood material. With the elegant look and feel of real wood, composite wood is also splinter-free, meaning you can safely use your balustrade fencing as a handrail along outdoor steps.

As with all Composite Wood Company products, your balustrade won’t ever need painting or staining, as the UV stabilisation of the material means it won’t fade or decolour in sunlight, always maintaining the pristine, low-maintenance look it had on first installation.

Learn more about balustrade fencing here

6. Wood Grain Composite Decking

A new development to the composite wood decking range, the same durable product in a completely natural wood grain effect. This type of decking is a fantastic alternative to timber decking, providing the same look and feel without the maintenance. The special blend of recycled wood polymer material has been treated and hasn’t been stained, so there’s no up-keep of that on your part.

Boasting all the same features as our traditional product, wood grain composite decking is splinter proof, slip & scratch resistant and the toughened out surface absorbs less water than timber ensuring that it retains its same high quality for years to come.

Our wood grain composite decking is available in the same four unique colours as standard, allowing you to create a stylish, natural looking decking area to your style and taste. The same easy-to-fit system and hidden fixers apply to our wood grain decking as with our traditional products, providing an all-round flawless finish.

The perfect choice if you’re looking to achieve the authentic look of true timber decking, but want a more long-lasting product that doesn’t need careful maintenance year on year.

Learn more about wood grain composite decking here

7. Artificial Grass

As well as offering products made from our unique composite wood material, we also stock artificial grass, perfect for completing your garden and complimenting your wood products.

Artificial grass offers a low maintenance alternative to a traditional lawn – no money and time wasted on fertilisers, weed killers, and grass cutting. Instead, you have an authentic, natural looking lawn that offers slip-resistance, tangle-free strands, and full permeability to prevent build-up of water.

The quality of the grass offers a great durability for the heavy footfall and potential vigorous activity it may receive, and also means you won’t have any patchiness or discolouration.

The grass is available in four distinct styles, all of which offer different shades and pile heights. We supply the Ashwood, Oxford Premium, Chelsea Deluxe, and Mayfair Luxury styles of alternative grass.

Composite wood is a unique material, made from approximately 60% timber, but being a more durable and effective option than the standard wood and plastic alternatives. At the Composite Wood Company, we use this excellent mix to create stylish and attractive decking, fencing, balustrades, and garden rooms, offering customers a highly reliable, great looking product.

But what is it that makes composite wood such a popular choice? Here’s a look at nine of the biggest selling points that are sure to make you push composite straight to the top of your list:

1. Life-proof durability

When it comes to undertaking any type of home improvement, it’s important to consider how long the materials and products used will last. After all, nobody wants to invest their money in something that will need to be replaced just a few years down the line.

Here at Composite Wood Company, our products are made using a unique homogenous wood polymer construction that maintains its high performance for years. All of our products were designed with durability as a top priority, with careful consideration of the different conditions that home and garden decking & fencing will be susceptible to on a daily basis.

We are huge advocates for loving your garden. A well designed outdoor space complete with decking, fencing, garden rooms or anything else you desire should be enjoyed by all – kids and pets included – which is why our products are completely life-proof. The scratch and UV resistant qualities of Composite Wood ensure that you can enjoy summer barbeques, garden parties and plenty of family fun without worrying about damages or defects, as our products can withstand just about any condition you or the UK weather can throw at it.

All of our Composite Wood Company products come with a 25 year guarantee.

2. Natural wood effect

Some of the more common initial questions surrounding composite wood are “isn’t it quite plastic-looking?” and “that’s the fake wood, isn’t it?” – but the reality is that composite wood has moved so far forward from that first generation of disappointing products. They did such a poor job of delivering the true look and feel of timber, but we’re in 2019 now, and things have changed.

The top tier of composite wood products will always look to mimic the beauty of authentic timber, whilst providing the additional benefits you will read about in this article. Customers invest in materials that not only stand the test of time with their durability, but also maintain their traditional look and feel for years to come.

Wood grain composite products provide a natural-looking woodgrain effect by combining recycled wood polymer material (60%) sourced from timber mills, with HDPE (30%) and additives (10%). The resulting material is not only incredibly durable and easy to maintain, but stunningly authentic.

3. Low maintenance

If you’ve ever had traditional timber decking or fencing, you’ll be aware that maintaining it can be a bit of a nightmare. It’s an all-year round chore to take care of, which includes a lot of cleaning, staining and restoring to try and get it back to its original state. Not everybody wants to or has the time to take on these tasks, and if anything it can greatly dampen the experience of your brand new garden.

Composite Wood products are completely low maintenance and retain their same look and feel for years to come, without the need for ever painting, sealing or staining. All of our products are colour stabilised so UV rays will have little effect and won’t cause it to fade like traditional timber.

So, you really can spend the summer months enjoying your garden every year as if it was brand new, whilst watching your neighbours desperately trying to restore theirs!

4. Strength & resistance

Standard wood and plastic products can begin to look a little worse for wear after a while, down to the strength of the materials they’re made from. It’s not to say those products are built to a low quality, because they’re not, but they’re not as good as they could be.

Composite wood is a unique material that offers a much improved strength and resistance, against a variety of forces and potential damage. Whether it’s decking or fencing, the material can often split or fracture after a few small blows, but composite wood offers a much more high impact resistance. On decking in particular, if you have children running around on it often, or maybe place furniture on it for garden parties and BBQs, the wood can often weaken or sag, while the composite version remains as sturdy as ever.

Another particular highlight in this area is the better scratch resistance that composite wood offers. With products like decking, furniture such as chairs is often dragged across surfaces, and as this continues over time, you’re left with a dilapidated, scratched look. With the composite version of these products, the same amount of heavy use of this style will leave you with a much better looking end result – there may be some small scratches here and there, but they’ll barely be noticeable from distance, especially in comparison to a standard wood alternative.

5. Weatherproof & Water Resistant

As well as being durable against hard use and typical wear and tear, composite wood products can retain their fresh style and strong quality in hard-hitting weather or harsh environments.

A lot of rain can often discolour and damage standard wood products, but moisture isn’t a problem with composite wood, due to it being completely and entirely water resistant. This means that as well as it being absolutely ideal for your garden, it’s the perfect choice to make in wetter areas, such as near marinas and waterways.

It also means it’s perfect for use at homes along the seafront, or even in areas surrounding outdoor swimming pools. In fact, combined with the fact composite wood decking has reduced slippiness over standard wood, it makes it absolutely ideal for this scenario.

6. Quick installation

Installing your own decking or fencing can seem a little daunting at first, especially if it’s something you’ve never done before. That’s why when developing our products, we focused on the consumer experience, and ensured that we created a way that was straightforward and simple to do, even for beginners.

Our concealed joining systems provide hassle free installation, a quicker and easier solution compared to standard timber products. All of our products have clever hidden joints and fixings, which give a helping hand in making sure that time and effort required is kept to a minimum while ensuring a flawless, seamless finish every time.

We have a lead time of just 48 hours for decking, fencing and balustrades thanks to our big stock holding, so you can be sure that you aren’t kept waiting on-site and your project is kept moving along.

7. Responsibly sourced

Composite wood is a material with a unique, effective polymer structure, with approximately 60% of the product made from authentic, natural timber.

The timber we use to create this is sourced exclusively from timber mills and wood workshops, something which we stand by due to the fact the materials won’t have been mistreated or stained before they’re used to create our products.

We believe that high quality materials are needed to make high quality products, and that’s why we have such a strict policy on where we source our wood. Although we mix the timber with other materials to create the unique blend we stock, the natural look and feel of the wood is still very much on show within our products.

8. Safe & Splinter Free

With the robustness and low maintenance of composite wood decking, people could be forgiven for thinking that the material comes with a catch. However, safety is of paramount importance to all composite wood distributors and we pride ourselves on a product that is:

  • Mold and algae resistant. Timber decking needs to be kept free of excess water to fight against the build up of slippery build mold and algae. The lengths through which people have to go to do so can be painstaking, but ultimately they are delaying the inevitable rot and decay. Composite wood does not have this problem due to the water-resistant HDPE that is used.
  • Anti-slip. One of the biggest concerns that people have when installing decking into their garden is that it will end up too safe to make the most out of. Composite Wood decking has an excellent anti-slip performance making it perfect for families with young children. Paddling pools are no issue, for example. The surface generates good traction which is essential.
  • Splinter free. No socks and shoes, no problem. Composite wood is created with a protective engineered resin coating that shields the material from UV radiation, and the subsequent damaging that leads to the breakdown of the wood. More about this below.

9. Durable against UV light

As mentioned, the most common cause of splintering to timber wood fencing and decking is UV radiation from the sun.

The gradual breakdown of the molecules that make up the material occurs because UV radiation dries out the wood and destroys the cell structure. Cracks form, splinters protrude, and the only way to protect your investment is by spending more money on a high-quality sealing agent.

Composite wood products do not need to be sealed, stained or painted to hide the effects of UV light – that’s because they are super durable against it. An outer coat of protective resin, called a ‘cap’ is applied to all composite wood panels and this ensures the structural integrity of the material is maintained. Colours only fade by around 12% of their original look, something which is entirely natural and unavoidable.
